Road to the Horizon League Championship

The Panthers defeated a wily Cleveland State squad last night to advance to their first Horizon League Semifinal in 5 years (last- 2006 when we made the NCAA Round of 32). Big Lumber, Ant, and Rick played their hearts out, Hags posted 12 points off the bench(!), and Ja'Rob McCallum stepped up big time for us in the second half as he nailed trey bomb after trey bomb to help us decimate the Vikings.

When this Milwaukee Panther Basketball machine is firing on all cylinders.... we've got a great chance to beat anyone- even BU. More on the CSU win tonight or tomorrow after the HUGE match-up against the "class of the Horizon" tonight at 7pm on ESPNU. Tune in- or miss what could be the biggest Panther victory in 5 years.

Fun fact- since we entered the Horizon League, Milwaukee has never lost a Semifinal game- period.

Other interesting info gleaned from the UWMFreak Panther Fan Discussion Board:

"in our 3 years in ncaa...we lost to notre dame, illinois, and florida
and what do they all have in common? they are all bubble teams cheering for butler tonight...lets get our revenge (indirectly)"
Let's burst one ore more of their bubbles with a "W" tonight at Hinkle.

A win over Butler will show just how far this program has advanced since Jeter took the reins from Bruce Pearl in 2005. But while a win is a win and it matters little who we face after that if we ARE good enough to take down the Bulldogs, the best case scenario that us Milwaukee fans could hope for tonight would be this:

Detroit throttles Wright State in a victory, and we upend Butler. This my Panther friends, would bring the Horizon League Championship game back- (you guessed it) to downtown Milwaukee. The Cell and the friendly and hardworking people at Major Goolsby's are patiently awaiting the results of tonight's ESPNU contests....

GOOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!
