Milwaukee gets back on the winning track, defeats IUPUI 78-74

Milwaukee has been down for a bit, but is no means out- a new winning streak has begun

This game sure didn't have all the signs of a win in the 1st Half. But a win is a win is a win. Milwaukee (6-9, 1-2) outscored the Jaguars by 7 points in the final 20 to earn their first W in a while.

Jaylen Minnett (18pts) and Marcus Burk (15pts) frustrated the Panthers from the start but IUPUI couldn't keep a lead of more than 5 points so Milwaukee had a chance throughout, we just needed to catch a hot streak.

That hot streak came in the 2nd Half as Lucas, Thomas, Bingham and Abram began to feast on the Jaguar defense and slowly bring the Panthers into lead position. Milwaukee pulled away in the final 90 seconds and came away with the their first Horizon League win of the season, 78-74.

It wasn't a pretty win (42% FG and 57% from FT) but it was a badly needed win.

IUPUI isn't the kind of challenger that we will likely face in a big tourney game, but this win turns things around for certain

Clutch passing and some real live offense from Lucas (11pts, 6rbs, 6ast, 6stl), Roy (10pts, 4rbs, 5ast), Thomas (13pts), Abram (9pts, 10rbs), Bingham and Sessoms secured this win. As ugly as it was until the final 4 minutes. We played about the best final few minutes of basketball we have all year and that in itself is a great thing to look forward to (more of).

Amir Allen is still out with injury but Wil Sessoms (6pts, 4rbs) played well in his absence.

This program was on a 7-game downswing but battled tough in some challenging losses. Let's hope that all the tests paid off and we can get right down to business in the Horizon now that we have started to even our league record.

Fight, Fight, for UWM.

It is early yet. And there are many more victories to be grabbed up.

Next up is UIC this Sunday afternoon at 1pm downtown. Be there in person or in spirit cheering this team on to a new kind of streak (winning).

PS: Can we see more of Arturro Bingham (12pts on 4-5 from 3pt)  like he played last night😀? That was awesome.

GO MILWAUKEE!!!!
BEAT UIC!!
