Lathon denied transfer waiver(?), Sinani sings LOI

Some developments have occurred in recent weeks other than the big and shoddy news of our team having a 10 day COVID pause. First the good news: Jasin Sinani signed his letter of intent to get scholarship from and attend UWM and be a Milwaukee Panther. Sinani is currently tearing it up for Oak Creek H.S. in the Southeast Conference of WIAA. Peep a game if you can; dude has been playing Varsity since 9th grade.

With Sinani, the Panthers are getting a complete player with range and post driving/rebounding ability

As for the other news, Jordan Lathon appears to either be one of the handful of D1 players not granted a 2020-2021 pandemic season waiver, or he opted out for this season. No reporting on why that I have been able to find. In any case, he won't be on the floor which (my Dad pointed Lathon out to me in 2017 when he was being recruited by Northwestern (and Louisville, Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Butler and Illinois to name just a few...))- is a bigger deal than most Panther fans realize. Lathon and Lucas would have been a magic show on hardwood to behold. But who knows, maybe next semester. Maybe next season... ๐Ÿคท

No news is not always good news

Maybe Lathon's absence from the lineup will create the opportunity for one or more of our many talented guards who just needs more time/floor experience to prove themselves. That said, anyone who is a fan of the Panthers is going to want to watch Lathon when he can play next semester or next season.

We all know Te'Jon is going to run the offense and defense and be our primary senior Panther leader. But we'll need some other players to step up and add to our squad what Lathon might have this season. Milwaukee (RPI 285) has lost 1 player (Vin Baker Jr.) to injury and sort of lost out on getting a waiver for Lathon to play this shortened/altered NCAA season.

Who all will step up?

Kansas State (RPI 150) tomorrow night at 7pm CST is the season-opening contest for this Milwaukee team that so many have such low expectations of. My expectations are sky high. We will improve significantly from the bitter end of last season. This team and the teams in the next couple years will rejuvenate the Milwaukee fan base. Watch the process unfold... ๐Ÿญ

I know Lucas, Gholston, JT, Allen, CBJ, Wilbourn and Co. are ready to show us what they've been cooking up in the Downer Ave. laboratory. ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿ‘“๐Ÿคฏ

go panthers
the future is now.

UPDATE: https://theathletic.com/news/ncaa-transfers-immediate-eligibility-2020/WFUlSBGTqljG

Lathon may be eligible if he still wants to play this season... I guess we will wait and see what happens on Wednesday.

PS: to clear up any confusion, Jordan Lathon was not originally expected to play this season, however the NCAA has been deciding to grant waivers to virtually all transfers this season due to the pandemic. But apparently Lathon was one of the few not granted a waiver. So Panther fans will have to wait another year (but at least we'll all be back at Panther Arena) to see Lathon in the Black and Gold.
